CUCKOO Treats Local Media to a Trip to Korea in Celebration of their 40th Anniversary

by Intan Abu Daniel

2018 marks the 40th year since the establishment of the famous Korean household brand, CUCKOO. In the four decades since its inception until now, the brand has evolved from a national brand to garnering a significant international presence. In light of this milestone event, CUCKOO kindly invited a total of 526 guests comprising media from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore, elite teams and employees from Southeast Asia and a pair of lucky winners from CUCKOO’S UP PLAN Promotion, to celebrate their 40th Anniversary in Korea.

From 4 to 10 March 2018, 526 lucky guests (myself included) were extremely fortunate to take a trip to Korea to celebrate CUCKOO’s milestone event – the biggest in CUCKOO history – and at the same time experience Korean culture and cuisine. We were also treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the production of CUCKOO products, namely their mild-alkaline water purifiers and multi-cookers, and witnessing the intricacies and hard work that goes into the process of ensuring that every CUCKOO product reaches its destination in pristine working condition, giving us all a better understanding of the company’s motto: “Beyond Standards”.

The gala night was an all-out elegant banquet celebrating CUCKOO’s 40th anniversary and their well-deserved achievements. Along with a stellar five-course meal, there were also entertaining performances throughout.

CUCKOO’s newest global brand ambassador was also introduced that night, inciting an excited and enthusiastic response from the guests. South Korean actor, singer and host Lee Seung-Gi from famed Korean TV series ‘Korean Odyssey’ and ‘All The Butlers’, had signed on to become CUCKOO’s new global ambassador for all its products, including its mild-alkaline water purifier, pressure multi-cooker, and air purifiers.

But the night was not all about Lee Seung-Gi, as CUCKOO has celebrated many achievements over the past year and the night was also spent awarding their efforts. Managing Director of CUCKOO Brunei, Mr Wong Kim Guan, accepted the ‘Country Arising Sales Award’, cementing Brunei’s own achievements with the famed Korean household brand in 2017.

2017 was a fantastic year for CUCKOO Brunei, the year in which they reached many milestones including the launch of a flexible dual package plan – CUCKOO’s UP PLAN – in January 2018. This plan was thoughtfully designed to allow Brunei families from all walks of life to enjoy the higher standard of living that comes with owning a CUCKOO appliance without financial burdens. The response was overwhelming, allowing CUCKOO Brunei to achieve results that are truly Beyond Standards.

“We wouldn’t have been able to achieve such results without the efforts of my highly supportive team, who believed in our vision,” Mr Wong Kim Guan shared.

CUCKOO Brunei joined the CUCKOO family in August 2016, and within 18 months had sold countless water purifiers through a revolutionary ownership plan while introducing multi-cookers and air purifiers to a Bruneian audience. In 2017, CUCKOO Brunei accumulated 3,500 Bruneian customers and opened 9 brandstores nationwide.

Marketing Director of CUCKOO Brunei, Ms Wong Hui Ting, shared the company’s vision for 2018: “Greater plans are coming ahead in 2018 for CUCKOO Brunei, where we aim to provide better plans and services to meet greater expectations.”
