The Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam was awarded the ASEAN Green Hotel Award and the ASEAN MICE Venue Award at the recent ASEAN Tourism Forum held in Chiang Mai, Thailand last January.

An ASEAN initiative dedicated to promote sustainable tourism practices in ASEAN through the adoption of environmentally-friendly practices and energy conservation in ASEAN Green Hotel practices, the ASEAN Green Hotel Standard deals with essential elements of Green Hotel operations namely environmental plan, green product, human resource and environmental management. Radisson Hotel commits to the efficient use of natural resources and the environmental education of its staff, guests and suppliers. On top of that, Radisson Hotel is silver certified in EarthCheck – used to measure key environmental indicators such as energy and water consumption, total waste production and community commitment, and is used by over 1,300 organisations worldwide.

One of the growing sectors in ASEAN countries, the ASEAN MICE Venue Standard is awarded to hotels that match three key criteria: physical setting, technology and service, easily met by Radisson Hotel. Offering event spaces ideal for receptions and business meetings, and equipped with free Wi-Fi, audiovisual equipment and customisable catering option, events held in Radisson Hotel are guaranteed to succeed.

The standard is a growing sector in ASEAN countries, following the vision statement of the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan, with aims that by 2025, ASEAN countries will be a quality tourism destination offering a unique, diverse ASEAN experience, and will be committed to responsible, sustainable, inclusive and balanced tourism development.

In winning these two prestigious awards, Jerome van Helden, the General Manager of Radisson Hotel, commented, “We are ecstatic to be the only hotel in Brunei to have won 2 awards during the recent ASEAN Tourism Forum. These awards are a testament of our fantastic team that works around the clock to deliver world-class service and guest satisfaction. We are the only international brand hotel in the country and therefore a sought-after hotel for accommodation as well as events.”
