28 May – 2 June                         

International Conference on Spirituality, Culture and Sustainable Tourism 2017
The first ever International Conference on Spirituality, Culture and Sustainable Tourism (SCST) will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and hosted by the Kadazandusun Cultural Association, Sabah (KDCA) and its partners. Held in conjunction with the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development 2017, the conference will be a platform for tourism industry players, researchers, academicians and stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality industries to share knowledge relevant to the theme of spirituality, culture and sustainable tourism.

31 May – 5 June                         

Qaisara Dreams KL Mega Raya
A chance for you to rub elbows with some of Malaysia’s beloved celebrities,  go shopping at the KL Mega Raya event that will showcase an array of Malaysian fashion labels, and then break your fast with Malaysian celebrities at Anjung Saujana, Seasons, Dynasty and The Horizons Seafood Restaurant. The event is organized by Qaisara Dreams with event partner Royal Brunei Catering.

Lun Bawang Festival
For the 30th time, the annual Irau Aco Lun Bawang Festival will be back to showcase the Lun Bawang culture and heritage in a three-day festival, and is expecting a large turnout of visitors from around Borneo. Following this year’s theme ‘Adat Tau Etu Tau’ (Our Culture is Our Identity), festival highlights include a beauty pageant, traditional sports events, cultural performances and an attempt to enter the ‘Malaysia Book of Records’ for the biggest bamboo performance.

2 – 5 June                         

Souq Al Ramadhan 2017
Organized by SH-Himco, one of Brunei’s most well-known textile shops that displays exquisite fabrics and textiles, the event will be held at the Royal Berkshire Hall of the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Jerudong. The event will showcase the gorgeous fabrics offered by SH-Himco at a 50% discount, and will feature travel agents and local entrepreneurs selling a variety of designer products, organic beauty products, perfumes and jewellery. Customers with a Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) account will also stand a chance to win tickets to Dubai and 10,000 Royal Skies miles.

BIFEX 2017
This huge annual event will return for its third edition, continuing its role as a one-stop hub for Islamic fashion featuring ready-to-wear attire, bridal attires, accessories, hijabs, concept designs and men’s wear. Held at the International Convention Centre’s Plenary Hall, last year’s event had a huge turnout with visiting Malaysian celebrities promoting their brands. Organised by Songket Wedding.

3 – 4 June                         

Tambunan Strongman Competition
Held in conjunction with Visit Tambunan 2017 (VTBN2017), this is a competition for the hulks! Marking the first time Tambunan has held a Strongman Competition, a total of 16 teams and 28 individuals will be competing in this battle to prove their strength. The competition will involve extreme challenges that will push the limits of human’s physical and mental strengths.

Borneo 4WD & Outdoor Show
The biggest Borneo 4WD and Outdoor Show (BFOS 2017) returns to Kota Kinabalu for its 3rd edition. Designed as a one-stop event for outdoor enthusiasts, the event will showcase vehicles, accessories, clubs, outdoor sporting equipment and accessories, lifestyle products, and destinations for your next 4WD or outdoor adventure!

5 June

World Environment Day
With this year’s World Environment Day theme ‘Connecting People to Nature’, this event features activities for children to spend an afternoon learning about various wildlife in Brunei, with activity stations to see the animals up close! Held at the makerspace – home of The Collective Art Events,  the event is organized by the High Commission of Canada in Brunei in partnership with BruWILD and The Collective.

6 June

Remembering Double Six
On 6th June 1976, some of the State’s top leaders were killed in a plane crash. This event commemorates that tragedy, and will be held at the Double Six Monument in Grace Point, Sembulan.

8 – 11 June

Tambunan 4×4 Challenge
Test your extreme road driving skills on any of four-wheel drive machine at the Tambunan 4×4 Challenge, and navigate through the dirt roads and rivers of Tambunan.  This is a great venue for visitors to meet and greet with like-minded extreme road drivers.

9 – 11 June

Pesta Babulang
An annual cultural festival organized by the Bisaya Association in Limbang promoting their unique tribal culture, this event attracts many tourists around Borneo. The three-day festival features activities such as a beauty pageant, traditional games and cultural performances, but the highlight is the buffalo race, where teams from Limbang, Sabah and Brunei outrace each other riding bareback on buffalos!

9 – 17 June

Sibu Street Art Festival
The Sibu Street Art Festival makes its debut in conjunction with Visit Sibu Year (VSY) 2017. With the theme ‘Fascinating Sarawak’, this will be the largest art festival in Sarawak and will be held at the Chuan Corridor in Sibu. The festival will feature a street gallery, creative bazaar, a vintage mini theatre, street busking, a mural photo booth and kids funpark. Vendors specialising in traditional fashion and handicraft items, and ink and henna tattoo artist will also be present at the event.

10 June

Sahur Saturday
Big BWN Cookout in partnership with Kaleidoscope Studio is hosting their annual Sahur Saturday at the Kontena Park at the Anggerek Desa Technology Park, on 10, 17 and 25 June from 9pm to 2am. A huge selection of food will be available by local vendors, and there will also be an exhibit of artworks by local artists Derby, Fice KB, Nur Khalisah Ahmad, Wilcon Mc Lau and Winnie Cheng.

H.O.G Brunei Chapter Sungkai Ride

Syed Faizal Makeup Workshop
Renowned Malaysian makeup guru Syed Faizal, whose portfolio of clients include celebrities such as Dayang Nurfaizah, Scha Alyahya and Liyana Jasmay, is coming to Brunei and invites participants to learn about the latest makeup trends and tips and more! There will also be a demo and practical sessions, and participants will also be able to check out the Syed Faizal beauty products and even receive some freebies! The event will be held at the Ephemural Media studio in Batu Bersurat.

17 June

Minduk Sirung Trail Challenge
Downhill trekking is by no means an easy feat, so first-time participants can expect quite a challenge in this race. Organised by Sabah Parks, this 12km downhill trekking race starts at the Gunung Alab Substation and ends in the Mahua Waterfall Substation.

The Reef Day
This annual event focuses on education, protection and rehabilitation to promote and develop a green mindset among the visitors. The event will be held at The Reef Dive Resort on Mataking Island which operates on the ‘Four E’s Philiosophy’: to look after our Environment, to be Economically Sustainable, to Enrich our marine life and coral life, and to promote Ecotourism.

23 June

Tambunan Strongfit Challenge
An extreme quadrathlon event that includes a 5km run, 4km kayaking on Tambunan’s Pegalan River, 2km cycling and a series of strongman sports including the Military Press, Dead Lift and walking on bamboo stilts to the finish line. Lightweights need not apply!

30 June – 2 July

Gawai Carnival Redeems 2017
An annual Gawai carnival organized by REDEEM, the purpose of this event is to showcase the Dayak Bidayuh culture, traditions and heritage, and while promoting goodwill among other races. The event is held in a rural setting, and like last year’s event, is expecting a large turnout of visitors from across Borneo.
