3 – 5 November                         

Tidal Bore Festival (Pesta Benak) 2017

Venue: Batang Lupar Riverfront, Sri Aman, Sarawak Malaysia

The Tidal Bore Festival, also known as Pesta Benak, celebrates the natural coastal phenomenon that is locally known as Benak: where waves are seen to flow along the Batang Lupar River upon high tides. Expect water sport activities such as longboat paddling competitions and tidal bore surfing.

While witnessing the tidal bore phenomenon firsthand, visitors can also expect activities such as the food and trade fair, and nightly entertainment hosted by the organizer.

Rainforest World Puppet Carnival 2017

Venue: Tourism Complex Sarawak, Kuching, Sarawak Malaysia

World Puppet Carnival with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Malaysia and the state of Sarawak present ‘Rainforest World Puppet Carnival Borneo 2017’. The event will feature puppet theatrical, video and filmmaking productions from all over the world, and for one whole week the performers will put on unforgettable, spectacular shows for locals and tourists.

5 November                         

Kayak Brunei

Venue: Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas area, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei

Head down to Bandarku Ceria this 5th of November for the first ever Kayak Brunei! This event is held within the vicinity of the newly opened Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas (Eco Corridor Park). The first fifty participants will get a free ride so get there quick!

Miri Beach Ultra 2017

Venue: Beach Republic, Luak Bay, Miri, Sarawak

This is for all the marathon runners. The first ever Miri Beach Ultra promises an even tougher time for the full-marathon old hats, with a 68km route that puts the ‘ultra’ in ultra marathons. If you’re not willing to take that ultra step just yet, there are also 5km, 10km and 38km categories for you to choose from. And with most of its routes set on the coastline, you’ll be running with a view.

Borneo Diver’s Celebration of Sea Turtles

Venue: Borneo Divers Mabul Resort, Mabul Island, Semporna

In celebration of World Turtle Day, sea turtle enthusiasts are welcome to be a part of this one-of-a-kind Outreach Programme as an underwater turtle spotter or as a research assistant on a research vessel at the Borneo Divers Mabul Resort. You can even adopt and officially name the resident sea turtles to support the Mabul World Turtle Day Conservation Fund!

10 – 11 November

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Venue: JIS Arts Centre Auditorium, Jerudong, Brunei

Watch as one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays comes to life at the JIS Arts Centre Auditorium. This well-loved play tells the tale of Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius and Helena – all ensnared in a four-person love triangle (or square). On a journey across the dark Athenian forest, the foursome happen upon some zany characters and storylines, from amateur actors to a little boy and a Shadow Queen, a love potion and… a donkey head??

Tickets range from B$10 to $25 according to the seating, available for purchase at the School Stationery Shop. The curtain will be raised twice, one at 7.45pm on 10 November and at 2.30pm on 11 November.

11 – 12 November

Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta 2017

Venue: Kuching Waterfront, Kuching, Sarawak Malaysia

A significant event in the Sarawak’s tourism calendar is the Sarawak International Dragon Boat Regatta. Held at the scenic Kuching Waterfront, this year’s event will include participation from countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, The Philippines, Japan, Australia, Netherlands, Hong Kong, Myanmar and Qatar. The race will start on Saturday (11 November) and finals will be held on the following day. Visitors can also expect activities such as local food and handicraft exhibitions at the venue.

Beachathon Series 2017 Brunei-Muara

Venue: Muara Beach, Brunei-Muara

The Beachathon Series 2017 is back and it’s coming near you! With your choice of categories (3km and 5km, and 1km for kids), the beachathon promises another fun-filled family day at the Muara Beach. Registration is currently open.

Sabah International Tattoo Convention (SITC)

Venue: Kimanis ballroom, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, Sabah

Back again for its third run, this annual event is supported by the Sabah Tourism Board and is highly anticipated by tattoo enthusiasts. An event that celebrates every aspect of the tattoo industry, expect to see international artists and exhibitors showcasing various modern and traditional tattoo styles, along with equipment and tools.

Tambunan Eco-Tourism & Music Festival

Charity Walkathon World Sight Day 2017

Venue: Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei

On that Sunday morning, head on down to Taman Haji Sri Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien in the city center for a charity walkathon organized by the Brunei Darussalam National Association of the Blind (BDNAB) in cooperation with MK Fashion Sports House & Embroidery. Held during the weekly Bandarku Ceria program, this worthwhile event is in celebration of World Sight Day 2017, which aims to raise awareness of blindness and visual impairment as a global health problem.
