Good Vibes and Good Eats at Marilyn Kopitiam
After serving the good people in Kuala Belait their amazing food and desserts for the past 30 years, owners of the Marilyn Café finally decided to do us Brunei-Muara residents a solid and opened a branch in Gadong. And as frequent visitors to its KB sister, Marilyn Kopitiam was high on our list of eateries to check out.
Its spacious and airy unit is located on the first floor, with a classy, well decorated but effortless interior. A corner is dedicated to keeping kids at bay, and private rooms are available upon request.
But we came to eat, and eat we did, choosing from an extensive menu that also featured a breakfast menu, sandwich choices, sides, salads, and categories of meal choices. We paired off Marilyn’s Golden Curry (an absolute winner) and American Burger with Chips (meaty and moist) along with some Nachos in a chunky pool of Guacamole and a dish of Poutine drenched in gravy. Expectations were high, but met: everything was delicious, and we’re going to be having some fun coming back to try out the rest of the menu.
If you’re thinking of skipping dessert, we urge you to reconsider, because Marilyn Kopitiam serves some fantastic treats. We gobbled down the Salted Caramel Tart, Lemon Loaf, Portugese Egg Tart, Red Velvet Cupcake and Chocolate Mud Cake with embarrassing ease, and topped it off with a Meowth Shake – a delicious apple and vanilla milkshake. Coffee and tea choices are also available.
