When it comes to dim sum, people often think of the Chinese dishes as light bites to be enjoyed in the early morning over dainty cups of steaming, freshly brewed Chinese tea. But Bruneians in the know will tell you differently; some of the best dim sum to be had in Brunei can be found after hours and only during the holy month of Ramadhan. We’re talking about Vanda Chinese Restaurant’s annual sahur buffet at Mulia Hotel where foodies are welcome to eat all the dim sum you can eat from 10.30pm to 2am. What a treat!
During our own rounds at the buffet table, we also tried dishes from Vanda’s new dim sum menu such as Cripsy 5 Spice Chicken Roll, Crispy Chicken Seaweed Rolls, Teochew Siew Mai, Beef Stomak Taiwan style and Pandan layer cake. But if you’re one for the classics, fret not, the well-loved restaurant also has more than a fair share of good ol’ tasty siew mai, tender steamed chicken feet, taro dumplings “wu gohk”, shrimp noodle rolls, soft steamed buns and salad prawn dumplings. Talk about an all-night breakfast!
While there is also an ala carte Chinese menu available at Vanda Chinese Restaurant through Ramadhan, the Eat All You Can dim sum promotion starts at $17.80 per head and $9.80 per child (5-12 years old) and will be available everyday from 10.30pm until 2.00am until the last day of fasting. GHK Privilege Cardholders are entitled to a 15% discount off per transaction in a single receipt. For large groups, there is also a Pay 9 Free 1 promotion where groups of 10 adults will only have to pay for the price of nine.
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, the Chinese set menu package which begins from 12 May 2019 to 4 June 2019 invites families and loved ones to gather at a round table to enjoy a full set meal. GHK Privilege Cardholders are presented with a 20% discount per transaction in a single receipt. In addition, every Thursday to Sunday this Ramadhan, all BIBD Credit Cardholders are also entitled to up to $100 off their total bill with up to 30% discounts for BIBD World Credit Cardholders.
