There are a few places in Borneo to catch a sight of a herd of majestic Borneo pygmy elephants, which can only be found on this island. Distinctive by their long tails that sometimes touch the ground and straighter tusks, the Borneo pygmy elephants are actually the smallest Asian elephant subspecies and are known as pygmy elephants due to their smaller size. But averaging at 8.2 – 9.8 feet, they are actually the largest mammal on Borneo island! This photo was taken at the Danum Valley Conservation Area, which is located in Sabah closest to the city of Lahad Datu. Photo credits: Craig Ansibin
