If you’re by any chance driving down from Kuala Belait and Tutong, why not take a detour and make a short pit stop at one of the hidden gems of cafes, restaurants and great seafood that are lined up along Jalan Jerudong. Here are some places you should try whenever you’re driving down that road. 

SEAWORLD NEPTUNE RESTAURANT & CATERING

Fresh seafood next to the ocean? Yes please! Neptunes gets its catch from the neighbouring market daily, and while it is open during the day, dinner time is usually packed with people enjoying their meals and plates of steaming fresh seafood everywhere!

THE LITTLE LEAF BAKERY

Tucked away off the main road, this adorable bakery does the sweetest cakes and desserts. Specialising in Bento and Dollhouse style of cakes, you’ll get the experience of a whole cake in miniature size and really who doesn’t love the idea of saying “I ate a whole cake to myself!” ?

SEOUL GARDEN

Annyeong! If you’re after a taste of Korea or just love the process of cooking at your table, Seoul Garden has got the solution. All-you-can-eat. That’s right, you better put on your big pants for their extravaganza of Korean BBQ and Steamboat Buffet, because it is free flow everyday here! Light eaters can also join the fun with ala carte dishes.

EL-WAED FRUITS (WHOLESALE)

Everyone come and get your fresh fruits at El-Waed! The wholesale distributor focuses on importing fresh items like Bahri Dates, juicy Navel Oranges and plump Avocadoes, but you’ll also get interesting stuffs like big jars of salty olives, pure Egyptian honey, and creamy Tahini.

SERENITY BY BERQAT

You’ll definitely feel serene dining at this quaint cafe located on the first floor of the busy Jerudong Complex; lots of countryside-styled decor and a heap of natural light from the big road facing window compliment Serenity’s food and drink menu. There’s even a separate Keto menu!

FLORIST HILL

For grab and go coffee, this home cafe is a nice spot to drop in to. Located off the side of the family home, the recycled materials used to build the space add to the mismatched charm of Florist Hill. You’ll find excellent pour over imported beans rotating in the hopper regularly, and light bites on the menu.

GEO EATS

A home-based eatery serving dishes from around the globe, Geo Eats is one of the few cafes that have equally good sweet and savoury options. You could take a trip around the world just eating your way through the menu from Mee Rebus to Moules Frites!

RABBIT HOLE CAFE

Hop on over to the Rabbit Hole where you’ll find energizing coffee and other speciality drinks like the sweet-earthy Matcha Strawberry or Lime Nitro. It feels distinctly Korean-influenced thanks to the white minimalist and cartoon bunny mascot aesthetic.

SHI WEI TIAN 食为天 (non-halal)

Rising to fame for their kolo mee, Shi Wei Tian’s Jerudong branch is conveniently located at the back of the GRÂND x Gourmet Market building, and open til midnight so if you’re craving good Chinese food past dinner time, this is the place to go!

AFGHAN CAFE

Serving up a taste of classic rice dishes from the south-central Asian country, their Banjan (eggplant) dish comes highly recommended! Decorated in traditional textiles, kitsch tourism posters and pictures, the vibe here is relaxed and especially good for groups.

ARANDA CAFE FEAT. THE KITCHEN OF JASMINE

Everything about this place is wholesome, from their food to the sweet cottage-core interior. Asian favourites like Salmon Teriyaki Rice Bowl or Western dishes like a dreamy Mashed Avo with Garlic Butter Mushrooms on Sourdough are worth trying.

AMINAH ARIF

A beloved restaurant for your favourite Bruneian eats, especially Ambuyat! Great for a family dinner, it’s a classic comfort you’ll want to return again. Don’t forget to try the other delicious dishes like Nasi Ayam Bakas or Sup Tulang, beefy goodness that’s nutritious and great for rainy days.
